Chanel Advertising- Shoot planning and Face charts

Model:

Product for S/S 16
Chanel Make-up

DAY LOOK

Products advertising in the shoot:
For the day look I have decided to put together some of the products to create a small collection of make-up that I will project in the make-up I create on the model. I have decided to go for the bright lipstick which is called shipshape and is an orange/red shade, I then included the sunkiss ribbon blush, Ilusion D'Ombre in Ocean light and the waterproof eyeliner in fervent blue. I chose these for the day collection because the colours are bright and warm to be able to create a summer day look.

Location:

For the location of my advertisement photo shoot I have decided to use a studio as I want the background blank and simple as the look will be bright and summery and I don't want the background to over power the look. My vision was to have the model wearing a top the same colour as the lipstick and a white background or the model wearing a white top and using a orange/red backdrop. Chanel doesn't tend to use brightly coloured back drops and the occasional advertisement is on location but mainly studio based.

Make-up chart:

For the make-up day look I want a flawless matte however highlighted skin. The cheekbones will be contoured for definition in the face and then blush will be applied to warm the skin tone up and creating more of a summery day look. The tops of the cheeks highlighted, nose, forehead, cupids bow and under the brow. The eyes will lined on the top and bottom with a blue liner and then a mix of blue and silver will be placed in the cover of the eyes and over the lid slightly, black mascara will the be put on the top and bottom lashes giving them one or two coats to lengthen and darken them slightly. The brows will be filled in with the appropriate colour for definition and structure. I will then chose a lip colour that is similar to the shipshape colour which is an orange/red tone.

Hair Chart

For the day hair style I wanted something with a lot of volume and that felt free and fun to play with for a day look. As my model is quite tanned and has dark hair and eyes I felt a curly hairstyle would be appropriate for the look I am going for. I love the colours in the collection and for the day its about the bright blue, red/orange lipstick and peachy pink cheeks. I quite like the idea of a dark Latino looking girl with the blue round the eyes, bright orange/red lips and dark curly hair to finish it off. This style will be created with small curling tongs and a lot of time and patience.

Garments

In an advertisement for make-up the shot tends to be quite close up to the face so you get the detail of the make-up and products. Iv'e kept the clothing quite simple with block colours as I don't want to much colour and distraction in the ad. Depending on the colour of the background when shooting I will choose the colour of the tops according. Firstly if we're starting off with the orange/red background the model will be wearing the white top. If the back drop is white the model with b wearing the orange/red bodysuit. The colour of the body suit compliments the lip colour and the white keeps the look pure and bright for a day feel and compliments the models summer tan for the collection.

Mood board

I have put together a mood board with all the inspiration and overall look and theme of the shoot. Iv'e included makeup look, hair inspiration, layout, posing, composition and the colour theme through the collection to bring my look together as a whole. With the large curly hair, blue liner, bright lips and pop summer colours.

EVENING LOOK

Products advertising in the shoot
Again for the evening advertisement I decided to choose a selection of products to put together and shoot the ad based on the products. I decided to go for the darker shades for he evening look instead of the brighter shade as for the day look. I chose the raspberry coloured lipstick which is called energy and the Griffith green eye shadow and pacific green waterproof eyeliner. I want to darken the eyes more and the use of the deeper shades to create an evening look.

Location

I have decided for my advertisement to shoot in the studio, I was was again stuck between the background colours and what would make it look more evening. I firstly wanted to try possibly a white background and have my model wear a black fitted dress. The shot will be cropped so the dress won't be very visible to the camera and then the background will be white. However I also want to try my model wearing something strapless on the top and cutting the shot of there so there is no clothing in the shot and the back drop being black. I think the black background will appear more evening as white can lighten the image and appear more day. I will bring all garments to the shoot and try both back drops on camera to see what looks the best.

Makeup chart

The evening look has a glowing golden skin with bronzing around the edge of the face, contour on the cheeks and finished with pink/coral blush. Highlighted areas on the face such a chin, cupids bow, nose, forehead, tops of the cheekbones and under the brows. The eyes will be heavier than the day look to distinguish both looks. Green pencil eyeliner will be placed under the eye and top of the eye by the lash line. On the lid will be a green and silver eyeshadow, complimenting the corner of the eye and then following over the whole lid and shadowing slightly under the eye. Black mascara will be used on the top and bottom lashes and the brows will be filled in to give definition. The lips will be the colour of the Chanel energy lipstick which is more of a dark pink raspberry colour. The neck and chest area will be oiled to highlight and enrich the skin.

Hair Chart

For the evening I wanted a hairstyle that was more sleek and elegant. From the curly day hair style I decided to slick with the curls however something more sleek. The style I want to create for the evening advertisement look is hollywood waves. This can be such a simple design and can be brushed through and styled into place however look very effective and sophisticated. This will be created with medium sized curling tongs and then I will brush it through once the hair has cooled and then used my comb in sync the wave and hairspray into place.

Garments

For the evening clothing I wanted to go for something dark and tight however something with a lot of skin and shoulder showing. My decision was between a black strappy dress or to just wear a boob tube and cut the image off there so the model looks bare chested. On the skin I want to cover it in oil so it will reflect beautifully on the camera and make her skin look dreamy. I think being bare skinned gives a beautiful feminism feel and no garment will over power the look. On the day of the shoot I will firstly put my model in the dress and the if not the straps will come down and the top of the chest, shoulders, collar bone and neck will be exposed.

Mood board

I have put together a second mood board for my evening look with all the inspiration and overall look and theme of the shoot. Iv'e included makeup look for the darker eyes, hair inspiration for the holly wood waves, layout, posing, composition and the mood of my overall look.
