Project Evaluation

Overall I feel the beauty and the brand unit had really given me independence in my own work and development. The unit was a slow start when having to choose a brand and think and develop six different looks and ideas. The unit has definitely helped with my technical skills and the challenge of bringing together a photo shoot and collaborating with other people. Time management is essential and allowing yourself to be organised to complete all six looks.

Over the course of the unit I researched my chosen brand Chanel in depth and looked into spring/summer 2016 and past trends of Chanel and other designer. This has definitely widened my knowledge of current and past trends and the also noticing styles and make-up coming back into fashion again. This has definitely given me an insight into the fashion industry and what it takes to create a final piece. I was anxious about having to shoot six looks and I can honestly say it was not easy as bringing together a look as a whole and finding models is hard. However looking at my final image I can see the reflection of my hard work, time, planning, and development and in depth studying of the fashion house Chanel. I have looked into current and past trends and feel this really reflects into my final images how I came to the conclusion of each individual look.

When starting this unit I was very excited to be doing a fashion and beauty unit as I want to go into fashion and editorial make-up however have really enjoyed creating the advertisement as a whole and basing a certain look on a make-up collection and reflecting the products in the look. This unit has definitely had its ups and down and have had a real struggle as a designer bringing together a whole look and think of the technical side and also the styling and sourcing suitable models for the look.

I have really enjoyed this unit and think it had developed me as a designer and also following the guideline of a brand and season. Overall I’m very happy with the outcome of my final images and think its portrayed through my sketch blog journey.
