Steps

  1. First step was cleaning the face with toning water just to make sure the model face is make-up free. I then used a moisturiser all over the face and the neck. I then applied a primer to the face all over with my foundation brush, the skin is now ready for the application of make-up.
  2. I then applied the Amarni foundation all over the face for a light coverage. I used a darker shade of foundation and a lighter one to contour the face. This is to be able to give a light contour and sculpting of the face with the foundation. I applied the dark on the top of the forehead, cheekbones, chin, just under the jaw line and tip of the nose and side, I then applied the light on the centre of the forehead, under the eyes, below the cheekbones, centre of chin, eyelids and centre of the nose. I then placed a small amount of the make-up blend and squeezed  brush, this helps to blend the foundation into each other and give a slight glow to the skin. Using the brush I blended it all in and worked it onto the ears and down the neck.
  3. Next was setting the foundation and highlighting certain areas with the powder. I applied the white powder first under the eyes, centre of the forehead and under the cheekbones and the over I applied the banana powder. I then used my large powder brush to blend it in. I wanted a glowy look so I applied only a small of powder so it set the make-up however wasn't completely matte.
  4. I then used the sculpting powder and used my brush to define the cheekbones. I then went over the cheeks with the Illamasqua blusher which is a mix of a dark pink and bright pink to give warmth to the skin. Lastly on the skin was highlighting it which I used a fan brush and highlighted the center of the forehead, under brow, tops of cheekbones, down nose, cupids bows and chin.
  5. I then started on the eyes where I created a black winged eyeliner and created a flick, I then used the green pencil liner to line the bottom of the eye under the lashes and create a slick flick out also. I then gave the ashes one coat of black mascara.
  6. Next was the brows which I filled in a defined with a brown pomade and brush.
  7. I then lined the lips with a pink pencil and then used a nude colour from the lip kit and applied onto the lips.

Final Mood Board

How the shoot went-

On the day of the shoot I met my model and hour before I booked the studio time for, this was to prepare for the hair and make-up and to set up the lights in the studio. I got in at 5pm and met my model danika downstairs in the makeup studios however it was super busy and jam packed to we had to go up to level 4 to complete hair and make-up. I started on the make-up and followed my face with the look an then did the hair, I grabbed all the clothing and jewellery my model needed and gave her the outfit of what she needed to put on. For under the jacket It was a decision between a black jumpsuit or a white top and white/cream trousers. I decided to go with the black jump suit and because it is a casual loose fitting jump suit I put a grey waist belt on her also. I brought with me pearls and a silver and tourquise necklace to match the look however when I put it on her I was not feeling the silver necklace so decided to stick with just the traditional pearls. The look was now complete and we headed down stairs to start shooting, while me and Danika was getting really my assistant went downstairs to set up the lighting in the studio so it was ready for when we got downstairs.  We then started shoot the look, I started off with a soft box however I did want a beauty dish however there were none left so I had to make do. I wanted a beauty dish beauty the lighting is stronger and a bit harsher and that is what I wanted to the catwalk look. After around 10 minutes of shooting a beauty dish became free and I was able to use it. On the day I brought my mood board in just to be able to show my model the look i'm going for and the type of pose/position I would like. Danika is very photogenic and got right into it pulling out all theses poses and I hardly had to direct her too much.

Did any problems occur on the day or during the shoot?-

The only slight problem on the day was I wanted to use a beauty dish but there were none available however after 10 minutes into the shoot one became free and I could use. The odd photo would every so often come out not in focus so I had my assistant naomi looking at the computer and checking the photos coming through to see if they were sharp and in focus. Apart from this everything went very smoothly and to plan on the day

Am I happy with the overall look-

I am super happy with the overall look, I think Danika really looked the part and I was really happy with her make-up and hair. I feel I have really thought about the whole look and considered all the fashion styling and accessories to complete a Chanel looking catwalk. I had a problem with finding a model because I wanted a particular look and height for the catwalk to look relastic. Before anything else and before my ideas I originally wanted to shoot with two models however both were not available at the same time and then finally the other one dropped out. I then was relying on another model to shoot for a couple of days and the day or so before said she couldn't do it. I didn't want to just ask anyone because I was keen to find a model with the look I wanted. I then approached a girl in town however she was not from southampton and could not do it, finally I asked Danika and she agreed and was available to be my catwalk model- what a model mare.

How do I feel about the images-

After shooting I scrolled through the images and had a look at the selection I had and I was really happy with outcome of the photos and how the images looked. The look I was going for and the style I wanted it to be taken in and the way I wanted it to look is how it came out. It actually went better than what I thought it was going to and I have so many images to select from and narrow down to. I can't wait to start editing and putting them together because that's when they start coming to life.

Am I going to re-shoot-

I am very happy with the outcome of my catwalk look so I am not considering re-shooting as I am pleases with what I have produced and have so many to choose from.
