Model One
My first model is my friend Sophie, I chose her because she is naturally very pretty and has a very structured face, with amazing cheek bones and lips. She tends not to wear much make-up, has a beautiful complexion and she is around 5 ft 11.
Model two
My second model is Lacey who is also my friend and goes to a performing arts school where dances, sings and acts and then on the side models. Lacey is confident in front of the camera and knows what shes doing, she is naturally very pretty, has really good skin and is very slim and tall around 5 ft 9/10.
Both girls with be modelling together for my editorial and I will create two make-up looks, two hair styles and both styled head to toe and posing together.
Location- Lydiard Park
I have decided to shoot my editorial on location because a lot of the previous summer editorials are on location, it gives an amazing effect and mixes up my six images rather than all being shot in a studio. I will be shooting back home in Swindon over the weekend so I have found a beauiful location called Lydiard Park. Lydiard park has gardens, forest, lake, Lydiard houses and acres of beautiful scenery. I found my inspiration to shoot in front of nature from the Chanel Spring/summer Cruise collection 2016.
Above is Chanels spring/summer 2016 cruise collection editoral shots. I really liked the idea of shooting in front of trees and leaves and being stood outside because its gives the whole look a summer feel. I think you always mix the outdoors and landscape with summer so I felt this location was appropriate.
Photographer- Previous Work
For my editorial shoot I have decided to collaborate with a photographer, normally I tend to do the photography myself because in a studio there are some basic settings and then you can just play around with the lights and settings slightly to get it perfect. However I feel with location its slightly harder because you cant control the sun, how cloudy it may be and making sure the photos come out in clear good quality. My friend Dannielle did a university degree at collage and collaborates with make-up artist, on the side during the weekends she does a lot of bridal photography where she does inside and on location. I thin this will be perfect for my shoot as she already has the skill and experience of shooting on location. I want the shoot to go smoothly on the day so I thought the best idea is to to have help instead of usually doing it all myself. I have currently found both my models who are both free one Saturday and I will be doing the make-up,hair, styling, and the final editing.
Makeup chart One
For my editorial look one the skin is flawless with a glow and certain areas highlighted, cheeks contoured and with a hint of pink blush. The brows are defined and brushed through with a little bit of product to make them thicker. I found the eyeliner inspiration by Giorgio Armani Prive spring/ summer 2016 which features eyeliner to the lash line and then liner on the crease of the lid. Model one will have two blue eyeliners one close to the lash line and one on the crease. The lip colour for model one is the orange/red shade called shipshape from Chanel spring collection. The bright lid colours are used from the Chanel 2016 collection and was inspired from the Chanel 2016 cruise catwalk and editorial which all feature bright lips for the summer. Model ones make-up will correspond with the models full outfit which will be a mix of navy, blue and white.
Makeup chart Two
The second look the skin is flawless with a glow and certain areas highlighted, cheek contoured and with a hint of pink blush. The brows are defined and brushed through with a little bit of product to make them thicker. Model two will have two black eyeliners one close to the lash line and one on the crease that elongates out however not to long. The lip colour for model two will be the dark pink/ raspberry colour which is called energy in the spring chanel collection. This second look will correspond with the models full outfit which will be a mix of black, white. The bright lid colours are used from the Chanel 2016 collection and was inspired from the Chanel 2016 cruise catwalk and editorial which all feature bright lips for the summer.
Hair Design
The hair design for both models are middle parted straight hair. For the shoot hair can be either left forward or tucked behind ears. This styles is classic and looks super sleek and a trend this year.
Garments Look One
So I did some extreme shopping and styling to bring together these outfits. Look one is navy, blue and white. I tried to get a skirt and jacket for both looks in either a knitted or tweed like material to represent Chanels iconic womens suit featuring the summer skirt. Firstly there is the white and navy patterned mini skirt which will be worn with a white blouse. There is a navy and white pattern jacket, this set in not matching however the pattern correspond well together, to finish the look I have a navy and white stripped cardigan to go round the waist (because Chanel loves layering this year) kitted with a blue and white neck scarf, round sunglasses and a side bag in the style of the iconic 2.55 bag.
Garment Look two
Look two is slightly a simpler yet chic look, I found a beautiful tweed like jacket and matching skirt in pinky/red black and white. The there will be a white quilted top tucked in, white sunglasses and a peach/pink side bag in the style of the iconic 2.55 bag. This look doesn't have as much going on but the coordinated suit shouts Chanel and is a classic look.
Accessories and extras
I also bought two large floppy summer hats, I want to try shooting with them on as well and see if we can get some good close ups. I bought on in black and white for model two and one in navy and white for model one.
I bought some extra items just in case, there was an extra black/grey and white knitted skirt, a hatched black and white summer bomber and a navy quilted jacket.
