Steps
- First step was cleaning the face with toning water just to make sure the model face is make-up free. I then used a moisturiser all over the face and the neck. I then applied a primer to the face all over with my foundation brush, the skin is now ready for the application of make-up.
- I then applied the Amarni foundation all over the face for a light coverage. I used a darker shade of foundation and a lighter one to contour the face. This is to be able to give a light contour and sculpting of the face with the foundation. I applied the dark on the top of the forehead, cheekbones, chin, just under the jaw line and tip of the nose and side, I then applied the light on the centre of the forehead, under the eyes, below the cheekbones, centre of chin, eyelids and centre of the nose. I then placed a small amount of the make-up blend and squeezed brush, this helps to blend the foundation into each other and give a slight glow to the skin. Using the brush I blended it all in and worked it onto the ears and down the neck.
- Next was setting the foundation and highlighting certain areas with the powder. I applied the white powder first under the eyes, centre of the forehead and under the cheekbones and the over I applied the banana powder. I then used my large powder brush to blend it in. I wanted a glowy look so I applied only a small of powder so it set the make-up however wasn't completely matte.
- I then used the bronzer with a large brush and put it gently on the forehead and cheeks. I then used the sculpting powder and used my brush to define the cheekbones. I then went over the cheeks with the Illamasqua blusher which is a mix of a dark pink and bright pink to give warmth to the skin. Lastly on the skin was highlighting it which I used a fan brush and highlighted the center of the forehead, under brow, tops of cheekbones, down nose, cupids bows and chin.
- I then started on the eyes where I lined the top and bottom with a blue pencil liner. I then used a silver eye shadow in the corner of both eyes and then went over it with a blue shadow and then blended over the lid as well.
- I then went over the lashes with black mascara to lengthen and darken them. For the eyebrows I used a small amount of product and filled them in just to define then and give them depth and shape.
- Finally was the lips where I lined then with a red liner and then used an ornage lipstick in the center of the lips and used a small lip brush to bend it all in.
Equipment:
- paddle brush
- pin tail comb
- small curling tongs
- hair spray
- clips
steps
- As I wanted the hair to be large and full of tiny curls I had help doing the hair otherwise the time scale for the hair would just take to long. Firstly we started with brushing the hair through thoroughly to make sure there is no knots or tangles.
- I then started by clipping the top part of the hair up and leaving a small section of hair at the bottom. Strand by strand we started curling the hair and we worked on one side each as the model had super thick long hair.
- We then started working the way up the hair and after around two hours the hair was completely curled. I then ran my fingers through the hair separating the curls making them individual for the larger sections.
- I then parted the hair on the side and got my model to flip over her hair where I hair spray it completely and then got the model to put her head up straight and I also sprayed the top.
A few images from the shoot
Day mood board
Advertising mood board
I included this mood board that I created because theses are the past years spring/summer make-up advertisements and it gives me an idea of the sort of look they created and the composition and posing. I made this for another reason, as I brought it with me on the day of the shoot and showed it to my model so she got an idea of how to pose and the look they created. I think it helped my model to know what to do more and how she can pose. I did realise that most of the models are very fair skinned and light hair however I have taken my own turn with Chanels spring/summer collection and gone for more of an olive skinned girl with dark hair and eyes and created something different with the use of there colours from the collection.
How the shoot went-
On the day of the shoot we came in an hour prior to the time the studio time booked so we could start on the make-up and hair. I started on the make-up first which I had no problems with the application and was able to get a space downstairs in the studio. We were half way through the hair when it was time for my studio booked slot to start so while my assistant finished off the hair I went into the studio and started setting up the lights and getting the supervisor to change the backdrop. I then went back into the make-up and hair studio and we finished off curling the hair and set the look. We then look our stuff and the clothes into our booked studio and started shooting.

Did any problems occur on the day or during the shoot?-
I started off trying the orange back drop and the model wearing a white top however the colour wasn't coming out very nice and I couldn't get the settings to go right and to allow it to focus on the model. Also it was making the model look very orange and not to far off the back drop colour so I decided it wasn't working well together. I then changed my model into an orange/red top and tried it with a white back drop. We then played around with the lighting until it was perfect. Everything went pretty well during the shoot, however I knew my model was a little nervous which did show through the photos as her face was a little tense. I tried to loosen up my model and allow her to relax but it is quite hard when your'e all made up and have a massive camera in front of you, However the images came out brilliant and have a lot to work with.

Am I happy with the overall look-
I'm very happy with the outcome of my day shoot, I think the images came out really good and represent Chanel well. I used all the appropriate colours from the spring/summer 2016 make-up collection to create my own Chanel advertisement. I think I got a range of images to be able to choose from for my advertisement and was apply to select a few to do post production on.

How do I feel about the images-
I think when I start editing and putting the products Iv'e selected and the brands logo on the image it will all start coming together. I can't wait to start production as that's when it starts looking whole. I'm going to have to narrow down my favourite images and over all find the best image, and study the face, makeup, composition, quality, framing and models expression to find the best one to use.

Am I going to re-shoot-
In some of the photos the model does look a little tense and stiff so I have considered re-shooting using a different model as this could effect the overall look however I want to firstly see what I can do in photo shop where so of the tense shading on the face is and see if I can smooth parts out and equalise the skin tone to make it look natural. After some post production if its still not getting there or working out I will arrange to re-shoot.
