Make-up Technical file- Eye shapes and eyeliner

In our recent make-up lesson the focus was on the eyes and what make-up such as eyeliner can do for your eyes. We were told to pair up and work on each other creating three different eyeliner looks.

Products:

  • L'Oreal super slim black eyeliner
  • Rimmel 3D black mascara
  • Anastasia Beverly Hill Dip brow pomade meduim brown
  • nars creamy concealer vanilla
  • Naked Palette 2
  • Sleek lipstick vamp
  • Rimmel liner red
| LOOK 1 |

Look one is light eye make-up (not very heavy) so some neutral tone eye shadows such as browns and creams on the lid and then eyeliner think with a small flick at the end nothing too dramatic.

  1. Firstly I primed the eyelid with the concealer and blended it all in. I then used the colour foxy on the base of the lid, tease on the crease and chopper over the top which is a shimmery copper colour.
  2. I then used the eyeliner on the upper lid as close as I could get to the lash line and drew along the line to the corner of the eye. I then extended the line out to create a small flick.
  3. I then went over the lashes with the mascara to darken them and give them some length. I then went into the brows and filled then in slightly with the pomade to define the shape.

The second look was a heavier eye make-up with a thicker flick and more mascara.

  1. I started off going over the same eye make-up to build the eye make-up up. I went over the eye shadow with snakebit eyeshadow by naked palette 2 which is a shimmery brown shadow just to darker the eyes slightly.
  2. Next was making the eyeliner thicker and a longer flick for more of an evening look. I went back to the lash line and went over the line again to the end of the eye to make it thicker and then I extended the flick further and made it slightly thicker.
  3. To finish off the heavier look I applied a red lip colour to make it look more evening. I then started with lining the lips with a red and then filled them in with the red lipstick.

Look three was a catwalk liner and could create anything we wanted. I decided to create a super over larged flick on the eyeliner on both eyes to create a dramatic liner effect.

  1. I used my liner pen and started by the lash line in the corner of the eye making the line thicker all the way to the end of the eye. I then went over the flick and extended it all the way to the end of the brow.
  2. I then went over with my liner pen again and equalised the line and its thickness and making sure the point at the end is a clean cut and centered.
  3. I then moved onto the other eye where I extended the liner and the thickness to match the other side.
  4. I then went over with the mascara again just to make the lashes longer, thicker and darker.

Overall evaluation

Overall I think the liner went very well. I got told for my look one the shadow was a little dark for a lighter look and maybe just a nude base would be acceptable for a neutral eye. The hardest part of look one was the liner because its hard getting a very thin neat liner close to the lash line however patience and a steady hand. The evening eye make-up I enjoyed creating because I like creating thicker eye liner and the precision of the line and mastering the line to perfection. I think filling in the brows and adding a red lip really helped to complete the look and give it an evening feel. The catwalk look was basically a very large winged eyeliner that extended to the end of the brow. I really pleased with how the catwalk eyeliner came out as I feel they were very symmetrical and the size and shape were the same on both sides and I think the flick and point was very neat and complimented the eye. I really enjoy creating eyeliner as it's one of my favourite looks to create on the eye. I think if I could do it again I would maybe go for something a little different for the catwalk look and really experiment with how eyeliner can be placed on the eye however we was limited to time and also swapping over in partners.
