| MY CHANEL POWER POINT |
In our recent lecture were told a week or so beforehand that we needed to created a power point based on our chosen brand and how far we have got with the project such as shoots, models, ideas etc. Below are screenshots from my power point.
I started off with my from page demonstrating my chosen brand and following onto the next slide with a little bit of history on Coco Chanel and the brand itself also noting what happened and different decades which got the brand where it is today. Also the iconic moments in her career with the brand such as Chanel number 5 and the little black dress including the Chanel suit in the 1920's.
The next slide was based on product S/S 16 the make-up collection which is called Spring L.A. Sunrise. I wrote about the colours in the collection and the tones used for the spring collection which is flashes of purple, teal and green capture the cities carefree spirit, while a dreamy spectrum of pink, coral and raspberry shades evoke the California morning skies.
I followed through with talking about the packaging and the overall look of the package. I spoke about the colours and why the Chanel packaging looks like it does. Its the purity of the design and materials and the dedication to stay true to the Chanel tradition. The packaging is kept simple and elegant at the same time, Chanel was not a fan of heavy decoration and likes the simple use of the three colours, black, white and gold.
Next I spoke about the price point of Chanels beauty/make-up products. I went through the prices of the products such as the foundations and there ranging prices and lipsticks, nail varnish etc. I then looked at the skin care and it's ranging price and also perfume which ranges from £49-£96.
I thought presentation and promotion was a tricky one to fill because I didn't particularly know what information to write about within the brand. I started explaining the promotion and value of the brand today and how they promote themselves through social media etc and how they also promote using celebrity faces. The presentation is through the images I collaged around the text which includes a picture of there website so how they present it to people and how they promote themselves. I also included a photo of a billboard which is another way of promoting themselves and also the use of celebritis such as Marilyn Monroe. I also added a photo of the Chanel counter so show visually how it looks for both presentation and promotion. Over the years Chanel had build itself up to present itself as a sophisticated classic brand and promotes itself through media, celebrities, advertisement etc.
The next slide was based on my upcoming shoots and what I've planned so far. At this point I don't have too many final ideas for the advertising shoot as my idea is quite broad at the moment. For the advertising shoots we have to create two looks one which is a day look and one evening. I have a basic visual idea for the look that I'm going for, for my ads however no any face charts or shoot planning yet. For the day look I'm going for something lighter with a bit more colour, the colours however have to match the Spring make-up collection. Above I chose a few photos from previous Chanel ads that I felt matched the look i'm going for and then I did the same for the evening look. I then added a few photos to the right showing other advertisements by Chanel just to get an idea.
Next was my two catwalk looks and what Ideas I had planned for them, I quite like the idea of someone doing the make-up behind scene or just a close up face shot of a 'behind the scenes' make-up look. Catwalk make-up can either be super quick and a simple look as they try to get the models on the runway as quick as possible or the make-up can be very dramatic and full on and can be rather crazy and out there. For my timed assessment it has to be one of my catwalk make-up looks so I need to start thinking and creating make-up ideas for possible looks for my catwalk starting with y timed assessment. On the right hand side at the bottom I added photos of the Chanel catwalk with the models on the runway and then above is more behind scenes getting close to the make-up.
Editorial can be very unique as the look can be very street, edgy or very smart and elegant. The spring/summer editorial shoots I noticed tend to be on location as it is summer time. Over the years for S/S they also used all the clothes from the S/S collection in the editorial shoots to represent the line. However I also noticed editorial was also very quirky with its clothes and compositions. I'm thinking of shooting two models outside for my editorial and basing the garments on the S/S 16 collection with a little edge to them.
I have visual ideas about my shoots so far but nothing too extreme which I know is a little worrying as I haven't gotten to much. I need to now start getting models and really narrowing my idea down and planning it, firstly starting with creating face charts and testing looks for shoots and starting by booking the studio really for my first shoot. I also need to start creating a look for my catwalk for my timed assessment and use the class time to practice and develope/change my look if needed to be. Over the next week or so I need to focus on really cracking on with my ideas and try to start shooting. I think my power point really explained a lot and was able to provide evidence of Chanel brands and it development, the market, pricing, promotion, packaging and who was Coco Chanel. Finally I can start gathering make-up ideas from my previous blog posts and trends happening this year and start putting mood boards together to get and over all visual idea of the looks I will create.
